The Seafood Haven
In 1991 I met Bob Barber at WJJF
Radio, where I worked in High School. I worked for him that summer in his
final year at the "Cozy Corner Restaurant" in Charlestown. I think I
was the bus boy or something. Anyway, we did no restaurant business in 1992,
but the following year, Bob opened THE SEAFOOD HAVEN RESTAURANT & FISH
MARKET, at 668 Atlantic Ave. in Misquamicut. This was before I became a DJ at
the Andrea or before the MBA or anything. I was a waiter at the take out
window. Over the years, I would spend summers home from BU working my way up
at the Seafood Haven, all the while living upstairs in the summer with various
characters!
Today Bob and I are partners in the businesses. We have grown to a quite successful business known for our Seafood throughout the area. One side is a take out restaurant with picnic tables along the water; the other side is a fresh fish market with lobsters and the like. We have improved our business and building and are celebrating our 15th Anniversary this summer (2008). Check out our web-site at www.seafood-haven.com In 2003, we opened The Breachway Market at 662 Atlantic Ave. It is basically right next to Seafood Have,. The couple that owned the market before us, Vincent and Virginia Gentiel had quite a following. We have kept the exact same grinders and hope our customers like them as well. We have chips, soda, newspapers, milk, bread, candy and more. Kevin Martin will be serving breakfast 7 days a week. This year we have renovated the inside of the store. Come check it out! Also located in our building is Dusty's of Weekepaug Ice Cream and The Tiki Guy Surf Supply.
See you at the beach!
